Keith Hummel
Associate Director Public Sector | J.A Montgomery Consulting
Chief Keith Hummel (Ret.) is an Associate Director for J.A. Montgomery Consulting. He provides safety and loss control consulting services for Law Enforcement agencies within Municipal and County Entities. The services provided address elements of a uniform consulting plan, which include training, accreditation plans, loss analysis, regulatory compliance, and on-site consultation and inspection. Chief Hummel serves as a liaison to the MEL Safety & Education Committee and offers advice on law enforcement exposures and controls.
Chief Hummel joined J.A. Montgomery Consulting in May 2017. Prior to joining, he was the former Police Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator of Voorhees Township, located in Camden County, New Jersey. He first started with the Voorhees Police Department in 1980 and progressed through all of the Department’s ranks. In 1998, he was appointed to the position of police chief and maintained that position until he retired in the summer of 2012.
Chief Hummel was the former president of the Camden County Police Chiefs Association and served on the Legal Aid and Arbitration and Education Committees. He also served on the Camden County Communications Radio Advisory Board and the NJSCOP Command and Leadership Advisory Committee.
During Chief Hummel’s career as an instructor, he taught classes on leadership, first-line supervision, personnel management, risk management, criminology, career survival, CPR, firearms, use of force, decision-making, and Internet crime.

Dr. William Mitchell
Board-Certified Neurosurgeon, Neurosurgical & Spine Specialists
William Mitchell, MD is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in treatment of the spine. He is the owner of his private practice Neurosurgical & Spinal Specialists. Dr. Mitchell received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and attended the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, his spinal surgery fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic and then was the chief resident at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He has training experience in both neurosurgical and orthopedic spine care. He is happy to evaluate patients right from the time they are injured. Although he specializes in minimally invasive surgical procedures, he is very skilled in determining the most efficient course of treatment for the patients both non-surgically and surgically. His offices are in Mount Laurel, Edison and Egg Harbor Township.

Det. Lt. Joseph Levanda
South Orange Police Department
Det. Joseph Lt. Levanda has been a member of the South Orange Police Department for 25+ years. He is assigned to the Investigations and Administration Division and is responsible for overseeing Administrative Investigations. Before being assigned to Investigations and Administration in 2014, he spent most of his career in the Patrol Division where he served as an Officer, Sergeant and Lieutenant.
During this time, his primary responsibilities included responding to routine and emergency calls for service, authoring police reports and analyzing crime data for assignments. Additional duties included, meeting with community members to listen to their concerns and discuss potential resolutions, and running the daily operations related to the police desk.
Since being assigned to Investigations, Det. Lt. Levanda has been responsible for overseeing Internal
Affairs investigations and Use of Force reviews. He has acted as the primary investigator for serious and non-criminal investigations. Det. Lt. Levanda is involved in officer new hires and the coordination of thorough background checks which include psychological, medical, general background investigative processes. Joseph also oversees and conducts background investigations for all firearms license applications submitted to the South Orange Police Department.
Det. Lt. Levanda is the agency TAC Officer, responsible for training agency personnel on law enforcement databases and acting as a liaison with New Jersey State Police. He supervises and assists with OPRA (Open Public Records Act) and discovery requests and is responsible for organized record keeping related to workplace injuries and workers compensation claims.
Joseph was raised in South Orange, NJ and attended Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ. Joseph graduated from Seton Hall University in 1995 with a degree in Psychology.

Krista Valenzuela
Bureau Chief of Cyber Threat Outreach & Partnerships (CTOP) at the NJCCIC
Krista Valenzuela is responsible for spreading awareness of current cyber threats, tactics, and techniques; promoting cybersecurity best practices; and establishing relationships with critical infrastructure, businesses, organizations, and individuals around the State and beyond. Mrs. Valenzuela has worked at the NJCCIC for over seven years and previously worked at the US Department of Defense on their information assurance mission.

John is currently a share holder at Capehart Scatchard. He represents employers in workers’ compensation, ADA and FMLA matters. We represent many self-insured and insured entities in all venues in New Jersey. John also published a book on workers’ compensation through the Institute of Continuing Legal Education entitled, “Geaney’s New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Manual for Practitioners, Adjusters and Employers.”
